I did the same. Sorry DarylS, but apparently you have not seen many original Mauser, Oberndorf type B rifles. They did not have a pronounced “Schnabel” foreend. There is just a very slight flare at the tip. The tips are cut off with a curved cut, straight in plan but curved up-down. Looking at the enlarged photo as you did, I see a typical post-1912 to 1945 Mauser B stock with the uncheckered foreend and the rounded, seen from the side, tip. Here are pics of four B Mausers, all with their original factory stocks.
