Re: Question on takedown designs?

I don't regard the lift out action as a real takedown. The barreled action and the stock is still long and requires a longish case.

It may be designed better for removing and replacing the action in the stock, but what is the real difference to doing this in a normal bolt action rifle? My first Zim safari I removed the barrelled action from stock. Put the rifle crosswise in a solid suitcase. Safari starts, sight in rifle. Four shots, ready to go. What's the real difference?

Thanks for the post though.
