Re: DORLEAC .275 Rigby Stalking Rifle

Very nice, indeed, from the "checkered" butt plate forward.

Daryl, a couple years ago I stumbled across a stock of this style, Prince of Wales grip, but rack-grade wood, battered, and plastic buttplate. Only $40, and I needed a stock for Persian 98 project with a Shaw barrel, Timney, and peep sight. I bought the stock and set it aside.

Then we bought a house in Rossland BC, from the estate of an old-time hockey player, one of the world-champion 1939 Trail Smoke Eaters. Bit of a packrat.

Clearing out the garage, I scooped up a pile of old spark plugs and mixed in them was a pre-64 Winchester checkered steel buttplate! So now I have the makings of an $800 “poor man’s Rigby.” Except mine is a .257. Dyslexic I guess.

Dorleac’s is a treat to see. An inspiration.
