I'm not an expert on these by any means. I suspect this might have been "refurbished". The blueing is too deep, black, even and almost a matt finish for a hundred year old rifle. Likewise the stock, while beautiful, isn't in the same style as other Rigby mausers I've seen from the period.

If refurbished then it would depend on whether it was done by Jack the local gunsmith, or whether it had been back to Rigby for a factory 'refresh'. If refreshed by Rigby, then I suspect the sales pitch would have highlighted it.

As said, I'm not an expert. I look forward to hearing from some of our much better informed members.
