I go into work everyday and look at a project waiting to come home with me. Its a 1891 Argentine Carbine in VG condition. Its matching BUT missing the handguard and the front sight protector/bayonet lug. Its on consignment and a tad overpriced in my mind ($400). The replacement parts are available for about $100 but the owner wont consider dropping the price or buying the parts. Sooooo it sits. The more I look at it the more I either want to fix it OR go full old school sporter. Id like to scope it with a classic scope in twist off turrets....and a butterknife bolt handle. I suppose I could use a second bolt and preserve the original and maybe skip the scope. At least then I wouldnt be permanently altering the piece? |
