I did a similar Mauser trigger modification, from the military two stage to a single stage. To do this, I put a small steel wedge in front of the front leg of the trigger finger piece, where you put that small leaf spring. Mine is not adjustable but tuned to my liking. Another thing I did is to add an after travel stop: inside the front returning spring cup, and inside the spring itself, I put a small steel cilinder, also adjusted very fine until the after travel suit my needs.
To prevent an accidental firing by pushing the trigger to the front, I put a small piece of steel in front of the trigger, inside the trigger guard.
