The 1950s – 60s were hard times for the British guntrade. I have seen several Holland & Holland bolt action rifles rifles from those times. They were made either on opened up ex-military German 98k or P13 Enfield actions. All had such light alloy undermetal and ventilated buttpads. Except the inscriptions and the iconic barrel shape, workmanship was so-so only at best. The checkerig was cut lopsided, and the oil finish was certainly not up to H&H prewar standards. |
