common rifle in east africa was the Jägerbüchse Mauser M 71 in 11,15x60R. the Jägerbüchse was 10 cm shorter than the infanterie rifle M 71 and not only made for the hunter units but also for other technical troops. prior to the massive losses of the great war this old blackpowder single shots were seen as worthless old iron.






this is the only pic I know were the askaris have the carbine 88, proably because its a machine gun troop so they use the same ammo like the machine gun
