Not sure if they were famous, but I remember reading an article from back in say 1982 showing professional water buffalo hunters rifles, in a rack, detailed as "powerful rifles" which I remember included the .375 H&H of course, and one of the four rifles was a .300 H&H Magnum. Ha, big difference between the two. I forget what the other rifles they listed as being the rack were.
