The rifle I'm looking at is one of the far fewer Oberndorf 96's made. Not many around. What attracted me to the HVA custom gun on Chuck Hawk's site describing it as a 96 with 98 features in a slick and sleek package. I find the 96 the nicer looking of the Mauser actions, and the 95 nicest of all...one of my first 'real guns' was a Charles Lancaster 95 (now that I think of it it could have been a 93) built by Ludwig Loewe in .280 Ross.
