I just got a Mauser 66 Stutzen in 30-06 for my birthday: Its in like-new condition, an early one made July, 1968.
38 in. long, 21" barrel, weighs 6.75 lb. I'd like to find more information on the Mauser 66...including specific info. on barrel swaps between early and later production, scope mounting systems, etc. I've read what there is in Speed's Oberndorf Sporters book and in Olson's Mauser book....and I found a German website for "Mauser 66 Fans" which can be translated, but I have had no luck in joining the group: (https://forum.wildundhund.de/showthread.php?21772-Mauser-66-(S)-Fan-Club)

What I would like to find or have made is a 9.3x62 barrel for this rifle. But I understand there is a difference between early stocks (pre-1970?) and later stocks (and therefore barrel fitting).Does anyone know this information? Does anyone know a barrel source?
