A Mauser 98 with original military bolt shroud safety. The safety has never been able to be twisted over. Metal fitting, needs something machined off. Impossible to turn and never has been.

My 404 is the same. If I put some down pressure on the cocking piece I find I can engage the safety and it comes off safe easily. I would need to file a small bit off the groove but it doesn't bother me.
