I've never had a problem with any safeties except for the following. -

A SMLE .303, where dropping the rifle on the butt would fire it.

A Mauser 98 with original military bolt shroud safety. The safety has never been able to be twisted over. Metal fitting, needs something machined off. Impossible to turn and never has been.

Mauser 98/Mauser 96 - original bolt shroud safety. Can't be used with a scope.

Even though I first disliked the idea of the Mauser M03 safety/decocker. I like it now. It isn't hard to use. And carrying a decocked rifle over a loaded chamber is useful.

Lots of rifle with a safety on with fire if you bump it on the butt.

I remember one author of a magazine article claimed the shotgun style tang safety was the best of all safeties. Even on his custom M98 in .375.
