Ironically, growing up on a farm in N Dakota, we did not have a lot of extra walking around money. We didn't have indoor plumbing till I was 8 years old..

My first centerfire rifle was a .303 Enfield..still have it to this day..open sights..never scoped it..and literally shot dozens and dozens of whitetail with that rifle back in the day of party hunting...cost me $40 at the time..was my uncle's who is now deceased...plan to give it to my youngest son one day as his first centerfire as well..and yes, periodically I do take it out for a walk....really pisses the other rifles off..
