Beautiful looking rifle and a good calibre. The timber is how I like it. Plain with good grain flow the whole length. As you would know 35 Whelen brass is the same as 30-06 brass. All I can suggest is google the Whelan and check the specs. Check 7X64 brass-Proper Euro brass- that may have the correct dimensions. Also with 06 brass if H/S is a problem you can fire form the brass. The claw extractor should hold the case and allow an effective striker hit on the primer.

Just checked the Barnes manual. the 06 & Whelen have the same base to shoulder length and shoulder angle. The 06 is slightly longer to the neck. This tells me the Whelan is A 30-06 necked to 358 so the head space datum point will be the same for both.
