It is very difficult to make a cup and core bullet perform over a large stretch of velocity impact ranges. Different game, different impact locations, different ranges all makes for a difficult time for the bullet. Some bullets appear to do well across a broad spectrum of conditions, some not so well. Some people have amazing performance from Sierra cup and core bullets on our moose, others swear at them for being too soft - same thing for a number of other bullets, like the standard coreloct bullets from Hornady or hot cores from Speer. some bullets seem to work just fine, others blow up - but not every time and not for everyone. Picking bullets can be a time consuming deal, or maybe one gets lucky right off the bat - but maybe only for this season on that animal. Here at home, Nosler Partitions, Barnes TSX and Hornady GMX all seem within a dollar or so for 50 bullets, at just over $1.00 per bullet. |
