trade rifle means it was build in Suhl/Zella Mehlis for some Dealer/gunmaker who in the end sold the rifle to someone. such rifles came in the "white" meaning don't having the makers name visible but were intended to get the dealer's name engraved what most times dont happen.
stock design, engraving and the octogonal to round barrel( I suspect, please showing the whole rifle) is so typical I can smell it on the screen it came from Suhl and yes they had a lot of surplus Mauser 98 actions left over from WW 1 production.
