I am not sure whether it was Daryl or Von Gruff or both who seeded the idea of resizing some 44 Mag jacketted bullets for some cheap plinking in my 10.75x68. Thank you to both of you because it worked a treat. I resized some Nosler 240 gr bullets and loaded them over Trail Boss starting at 17 grs and worked up to 20grs. Unfortunately I left my chrono at home so the velocity will have to wait for another time. The rounds fed reasonably well from the magazine although I suspect that large, exposed hollow point might have been a little deformed as it engaged the ramp. Even so, it didn't appear to affect the accuracy since my first group at 55 yds over open sights measured 34 mm (1.4 in). The next group printed well at 112yds but was a lot larger than it should be because of my unfamiliarity with double set triggers. Once set, that first trigger is very, very light. The rifle was a delight to shoot. So now I have to build my biceps by resizing a bunch of those Noslers for the next range outing remembering, of course, to take the chrono!! That said, I anticipate the velocity will be between 1500 and 1600 f/s. |
