The way it should be done , if you like to come close to the original Rigby. The square part over the barrel is not a "shortened" rib, but intended to accept tha front mounting base.
If it is made in that way you have free look on the front receiver ring (and markings).
I personally donīt like the clumsy looking H&H mounting, espacially on a Rigby.
I do like this mounting system, though I do not mind any of the other shown with one on Vixens rifle been the least preferred but not unliked.
I wonder if Rigby had the front sight set back so far for a reason. Like so the muzzle could be docked if the crown was damaged without losing the front site. I did not like the look originally but I do now. A bush repair so to speak. Anybody know the reason for it?
