Hi m4220, The rifle was refinished at least once in the past. I think the barrel was set back and re-chambered but the lead/throat was not recut. The cartridges I had reloaded did not chamber because the bullets hit the lands. After seating the bullets further into the case I was able to fire off a few rounds. The cases fire formed as expected but about half the case neck had rifling engraved, hence the reason I think the barrel was set back. A new plain stock was installed. I found the original stock here on Nitroexpress. A member purchased the stock on ebay. Here is the link: http://forums.nitroexpress.com/showflat....true#Post218178 As you can see from the pictures of the original stock, the rifle must have been in sad shape. The magazine box had poor welding repairs. The bolt face was plated with a relatively soft material to cover up the headspace issue. I missed the bolt face plating when I purchased the rifle otherwise I never would have purchased it. I'm having the rifle rebarreled but now the gunsmith is having misgivings about feeding and extracting cases with this bolt. He is not convinced it is the correct bolt for the .350 rimless Rigby. I would really like to see pictures of the bolt face for a .350 Rigby No 2 and an original .350 rimless Rigby. |
