Hey there: I'm in Canada and find myself coming back to this sight again and again for classic rifle research. I found this M-88 sporter done by V. Chr. Schilling, Suhl a few months ago. When I bought it, someone had broken and repaired the stock using body filler, brown paint, and birch...which is unacceptable completely. The front action screw and escutcheon are also missing. It's a neat little rifle, and the metal is in great shape with a bright bore and the numbers all match. I faux-repaired the birch patch by cutting it out and fitting in a walnut piece, mostly to provide a base to build up the stock with bondo before using it as a copying blank. But before I do that, is there anyone in the world with parts for these old rifles, or is it all a from scratch thing? |
