9,3x53R used to be quite common caliber here in Finland after WWII. It's not really any long distance caliber but good choice when hunting moose in thick forest.
But if you choose .338 bullet and a little "ackley" the x53 case same time when opening it you will get quite a nice caliber; some people here built one and they told that with 250 gr bullets they got, without any problem, speed like 2500 feet/sec. IMO it´s enough for a such short rimmed case.
