Hey guys, Figured someone here may want one. This is coming up at auction by Amoskeag Auction Co, June 6, 2015, 9:00 AM ESTManchester, NH, USA and is a Live Auction. Estimated Price: $2,500 - $4,000 (starting price $1500) Description: serial #111994, 9.3x62mm, 23 1/2 round barrel with a very good plus bore which shows strong rifling but which has frosting in the grooves its entire length. The metal surfaces retain about 97% excellent quality later hot immersion blue. There are a few spots which show remnants of some light pitting and the edge of the bolt handle shows an impact mark from being dropped. The full-length classic style stock rates very good with much original varnish and overall minor dings and handling marks from the years. It features a left-side rounded cheekpiece, capped pistolgrip, fish lip semi-schnabel halfway down the length of the forearm and factory swivels. There is an antique solid rubber rifle pad attached, it fits the original curvature of the stock and may be original, the stock is certainly not cut and now provides a 14 3/4 length of pull. Additionally the rifle features double set triggers, Oberndorf-style butterknife bolt handle, hooded bead front sight, three leaf express rear (one standing, two folding), and has been fitted for dual claw bases. The bases and rings mount a Hensoldt Wetzlar Ziel Dialyt 5X telescopic sight with heavy German reticle and bright excellent optics. The exterior of the scope is now nearly an overall gray and brown patina with light oxidation and pinprick pitting but the interior is amazingly clear. There is some oil soaking in the stock to the rear of the tang and someone has fitted a magnum crossbolt at a later date. There is a minor crack or chip just ahead of the bottom metal front extension, it is tight, and there were minor chips and cracks on both sides of the magnum crossbolt left and right. A very good Model M overall in a fantastic big-game caliber that likely would provide many more years of use afield. (37183-1) {C&R} |
