With your kind indulgence gentlemen, please permit me a short rant about all newly-made Mauser 98 action clones: Why reproduce that grotesque cheese-head coin-slotted screw that secures the ejector/bolt release? It is the single ugly thing about 98 actions that otherwise exhibit nothing but functional elegance in their simplicity of design. Surely a modern-made clone could have a recessed screw-head, or a slim domed head with indexed narrow slot, or pretty much anything other than that large obtrusive wart on the LHS of the action! All modern clones retain this awful screw-head, some asking thousands for bare actions in the white. Why, why, why?!!! Anyway, there we go, I've said it now, back to my shiraz... |
