Matt - the iron sights worked worked well for me once I opened up the rear sight to a wide V. With the U notch, there was too much fuzziness. Even though my .69's sights are not too close to the eye for me, their open V is easier to shoot than the any of the others with narrow V or "U notches. Some of the other guy on the muzzleloading forum U frequent tried them and really like the open V, Express-type rear sight.


With that modification, mine planted 2" high at 50 yards, zero'd at about 150 with the bullet striking just under the bead at 200. Killing the moose at 200yards was easy, with those sights. That was with a 270 Speer at 2,300fps. I had 2 loads that gave that, H4895 and BLC2. The case exansion above the solid web was less than .0005 (5-10,000'ths - not thousandths) with both, from a FL sized case. In other words, VERY low pressure in my rifle.
