But this rifle was built by the former Mauser master gunsmith Walter Roell post-WW2, evidenced by the Serial number and the lack of eagle/N + staghorn proofmarks on the Receiver ring. Roell was given the left-over Mauser commercial parts by the French to make "Mauser" sporters for allied officers.
