ah, originally invented for Wilhelm II, like the "Kaisergriff", for shooting with one hand?

Quite unnecessary, I think, if you got 2 good arms and have mastered the technique of shooting "stehend angestrichen", standing and using a vertical post for support.
Now I've learnt to never rest the forend directly against a hard support, always have your hand between forend and the post.
When using these hooks I'd be concerned about a change in point of impact.
