headoftheholler, I have done quite the same many years ago in my innocent days, "mixing styles".... Got an M98 action with a "spoon handle" from a Ferlach-trained gunsmith, then had a quite heavy and 26'' Douglas barrel installed, .30-06. The mix was completed by a Recknagel front sight ramp, a barrel band for the front swivel and an expensive adjustable rear sight from Brownells which was called "Win. 70 .458 style". Plus a side-swing safety, Timney trigger and a titanium firing pin... no skeleton grip cap, though.. That rifle admittedly is no beauty but always worked well for me, and still doesn't look too bad to carry. fuhrmann |
