Newby question here and thanks for any help in solving my quandary. I recently purchased a Charles Daly 98 in 30-06. I bought a used slim profile "European" type stock suited for iron sights off of flea-bay. When trying to fit the bottom metal in, I noticed it was too wide to fit in the stock as is. I'm concerned about taking anymore wood out of it as it is very thin already. Is there any reference or notable size differences between bottom metal over the years? I will be checking to see if a military 98 floor plate will fit, but was oblivious to their being different dimensions.
