Re: Mauser rifles at auctions

[quote IMO thatīs easy way to make lower bolt handle. And I have to say I like their outlook. The fast loading ability are not allways a issue, depending what kind of hunting you mostly do.

This is definitely a quick and easy (and cheap) way of modifying a bolt. However, from the photos there is no indication that it made the handle any lower. The root of the bolt remains unaltered.

The scope is certainly mounted just as high as it would have been for an unaltered bolt.

Everything about this rifle says "class" from the stock wood, to the stock execution, to the engraving on the action and magazine cover, to the engraved name of the maker and the "Brenneke Hochleistungspatrone Kal. 7X64" marking on the barrel. Everything except the bolt handle, which really deserves the sobriquet "butter knife", since the flattened portion really is thin enough to cut with. Anyone who has used a Mannlicher Schoenauer, a Mauser Type M, or a BRNO 21/22 would immediately notice the difference.
