The dovetail cut in the receiver ring of this World War I military action appears much too deep for safety. My guess is that it extends all the way into the upper locking lug recess. I have heard that such an action would not be accepted for proof today. If I remember correctly, it was this kind of action which P.O. Ackley utterly destroyed in one of his action strength tests.
