Since the 8X60 cartridge was developed after World War I as a result of the banning of the 8X57 cartridge for civilian use by the Treaty of Versailles, it is most unlikely that this is a pre- World War I rifle. In fact, if I am not mistaken, the use of the term "NORMAL" did not begin until the 1930's.
