Don, thanks for the reply. Sorry to learn that you are no longer collecting, but I've had similar thoughts myself. I sometimes think it would be nice to keep a few favorites (not necessarily collectables) and sell off the rest. My problem is I don't get the chance to shoot as much as I'd like.

As for prices, I've noticed some softening from a few years ago although I can't offer any specific evidence. The highly collectable bolt guns like London rigbys, early G&H, and high condition Oberndorf Mausers seem to be holding their own however. If anything is overpriced I would say it's English double rifles. If you look at what a 'golden age' double cost new, and what it costs now, the appreciation wildly exceeds any reasonable measure - except the cost of a new one.
