I had one such rifle in caliber 9.3X57, which was made in 1943, at a time when I would have thought the German arms industry would be devoted 100% to war production. However, the Scandinavian caliber, like yours in 6.5X55, would seem to indicate that some hunting rifles were still being produced for the Swedish market as a source of hard currency and to offset the cost of importing Swedish iron ore. Here's mine: The action used to build mine was not a commercial Mauser action, judging from the shape of the bolt knob, but there were no markings to indicate who the original manufacturer might have been. |
