I agree DirtyJim. Part of my Honeymoon (in 1988) took place in Banff, Banff International. One morning while wacthing the Elk feed on the lawn I notice a "guard" of sorts. I talked with him and he told me he was a maintance/jack-of-all-trades for the Motel and every morning he was asked to spend a hour or so out near the lawn, but descreet, to ward off any potential Elk "trouble". Being so very American, I asked him what he was armed with, the next day he showed me his rifle on the dash of his Golf-type cart. It was a haggered M-54 carbine in 9x57mauser. In my pre-computer days I had pictures of it. I have only owned one, in the predictable .30 Gov't of 1906, as stamped on the barrel. |
