470 Rigby: Whoa there ! This rifle was built to commemorate Mauser not Rigby so it is defintely not a Rigby copy It is however a Mauser copy and Mauser used cheekpieces similar to this rifle on their stocks. I know cause I have a few. Mauser basically offered two stock types in the Model A and this stock copies the original Mauser spec faithfully. The LOP on my rifle trigger to end of wood is 14.5 inches exactly like the original, in stead of the mauser metal horn or plastic buttplate they added a recoil pad that adds just shy of an inch. What they have domne though is to improve slightly on the drop at toe and comb on this rifle cause the original mauser was wicked 3.5 inch and 2.25 respectively. The curve of the pistol grip is typical Mauser and differs from the classic long grip of english Mausers. I also have two Original 416 Rigby rifles. These are English guns with english stock dimenions, different ball game all together. So in short as you are critical of this rifle you have to be critical of all Original Mausers cause this is how they are. ![]() |
