Re: Help me pick a blank!

I have had a bit of a look at these blanks both here and on AR and without being able to see the top edge of 208 I would dismiss it offhand.

207 as has been said is a strong blank if a little plain in some respects, although that is what a pure quartersawn blank offers, but would make into good working rifle.

215 has a little too much grain ending in the wrist for my liking so is not in the running.

218 could make into a good rifle if the pattern was shifted so the forearm was toward the bottom of the blank and the heel was raised as this would correct the grain flow in the forearm and would also make into a good rifle.

219 If the heel of the pattern was droped and the forearm was raised most of the maybe questionable knot on the left side might disapere in the shaping and might be my choice if I could have a hands on check for myself. It also has excellent grain flow at the toe and grip cap area.

So- 207 or 219 would be in for further consideration in my book.
