I tend to agree. I do not think of it as the gun "speaking" so much as wonder what tales the gun could tell if it spoke. All cleaned up and no character-dings, scratches, darkning of the timber etc-and the rifle does not start one thinking of its past.
Least ways thats how I look at it.
