The CZ 550 is a magnum length "mauser type" action. By magnum length I mean it handles the 416 Rigby cartridge with no issues. That and the stock design (which some refer to as "blocky") probably contribute to it's weight. As far as the differnces between it and the Model 98 design, I'll leave that to the experts here of which there are truly many.
