G'Day Tentman, Generally, any Mauser type action (including Brno, Omark 44, etc), where the front action screw, screws into the bottom of the receiver recoil lug. Both the bottom and the rear face of the recoil lug needs to be in full contact with the bedding, after the bedding compound has cured! On say a Remington 700, prior to bedding, you would apply some bedding tape to all but the rear face of the receiver recoil lug! On any Mauser type action, you would apply it to only the sides and front of the recoil lug! After the bedding compound has cured, I remove this bedding tape from the recoil lug (and various other parts of the receiver/action), and now have a very slight but sufficient clearance at all these critical locations. I need to get digital camera! As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words!!! Hope that helps Doh! Homer |
