OK, I think I have it squared away now. One of those personalized things. I like it but some might not. That's certainly OK, but here's the story if you care to see the {final?} update. Sum; Started as a CZ550 6.5x55, but didn't CRF. Rebarreled with a take-off CZ 9.3x62 barrel chopped to 19 inches by CZ. I did a bunch of stock work. Then I designed a double sling adapter to fit all standard QD studs, and the side mounts became superflous, and...the rifle balance seemed lakcing somehow. So, back to the shop and the saws and rasps. I patched the superflous hole, added a single side QD stud, replaced the Euro studs with US-type, reshaped the forestock to a Schnabel and made a slight betterment of the butt to again to closely fit my face. Takes all recoil away from the chin. Works well. Then two coats of red oak stain and 13 coats of Formby's Tung Oil. With doublesling attached; Side view; Final. Very lively handling now, considerably better than the last iteration of my chop and salsh, and light years better than the clubbiness of the original FS stock configuration. I think I got it. Best of all, using the RL15 load of 58 grains under the Prvi 285 grain bullet, I get a chrono'd 2179 fps which Daryl will immediately seize on as identical to the original 9.3x62 factory specs of 2175 and bettering by just a little {50 fps} speeds I attain in my 24-inch HVA 146 9.3x57. Freezer's getting low on bear meat. Gotta fix that in a couple months. Will work on making some semi-frangible 285's for close up dog work. The 285's have killed a number of bear for me in 9.3x57 and x62 but I've been wanting a super-fast-opening bullet and some experimentation with grinding wheel and hollowpointer might be in order...
