Re: Mauser M03 barrels and accessories?

I'm thinking of using this stock blank for the M03.

Originally introduced on these forums as an idea for a "Tiger Rifle" project. A Mauser 98 in a classic calibre used in India for tiger. My preferences were always either .318 WR or .333 Jeffery. The "Tiger" idea was merely due to the "stripes" on the walnut.

Now both cartridges are very similar to the 8x68S though not as romantically classic by any means. Nor does the utilitarian M03 the appeal of a classic M98.

However less money spent on less rifles, means I have more to spend on actually hunting with them!

And a .404 Jeffery is definitely classic still, though I have never read of it being used in India, though probably some were.

From this thread originally - "Tiger" M98 rifle

Or I might buy a new blank for the M03!

Actually have bought a new somewhat plainer walnut blank for the future M03 project stock. So the "Tiger stock" will definitely stay for a .318 WR.

Will need to take some photos of the new walnut to show.
