Here is a 8x57mm rifle brought back by a GI after WW2. Some call them "Cigarette Mausers" because they were traded for by the GI's. This rifle was made from a early pre war(1936) military Mauser Oberndorf action. The stock is a SUPER nice piece of wood with awesome figuring and tiger stripe to the grain!(pictures don't do it justice) Hand checkered with German cheek piece and unique Schnable fore end. Side rail scope mount is perfect and returns to same point of aim every time it is remounted. Scope is original period steel 4X (MSW Wetzlar), clear and bright with German #1 reticle. Open sights are also very nice with an extra folding leaf on rear base.(side rail mount allows use of open sights while scope is mounted!) Action is slick and tight, bore is very clean with excellent strong rifling. Trigger group has been pre fitted for double set triggers with a filler block in place presently(regular trigger works fine) but installation of DST would be very easy. Short safety is stiff to use so I picked up a complete Buehler scope safety that will be a great addition. Leather scope case, leather scope covers, and German braided sling make this one complete. This rifle is LIGHT, slim and comes up to shoulder like a dream! I am presently selling this one in the classified forum. Let me know what you guys think.....
