Interesting how things pan out. The 8x57 is not a popular cartridge over here these days, nor is the 8mm caliber in general. You can get Highlander and Winchester factory ammo - the Highlander is good. The Winchester is downloaded and uses 0.321" projectiles so is underpowered and not accurate. 0.323" projectiles are not always in stock.

I shoot Combined Services match (Military Rifle) in Brisbane and we use ex-mil bolt guns (typically). Out of a dozen regulars I'm the only one that uses an 8mm - the others (in order of decreasing popularity )are 6.5x55, 303, 7.62x54, 308, 7.62x39 and 7.5x55.
