Making it to an 8X68S will bring a few other issues with feeding and modifications which might result in a few “sour grapes” unless done by a competent smith. I seen one zg-47 that had been converted - it was basically a single shot rifle.

Heym offers pre-chambered and threaded barrels for ZG-47 - they built rifles Zg-47 actions.

8X64S is a very nice caliber and I think you should give it a try.
