All this 9.3x62 talk finally resulted in my obtaining the barreled action of my original 9.3x62 - back from the dead. It had been between caught in the middle of a divorce battle between a friend and his wife - ended up being on the floor of a flooded basement and forgotten for several years. Originally, it had been stripped down for bead blasting and re-finishing which never gained momentum - I'd forgoten about it & actually thought I might have sold to someone. Wrong - well, it's back in my hands - I have a spare bolt and of course, a spare set of guard screws and inner metal. The stock disappeared somewhere along the line, however the rifle will probably end up with either a laminate or the great fitting Butler Creek stock - haven't decided. The outside of the barrel and action picked up some worms, but the bore is better than I remember it - bright and shiny with sharp rifling. Incredible, considering what it went through. I have this site and this last 9.3 thread to thank for my gaining enough interest in the 9.3x62 - to pursue this barreled action and to end up with it again for use - and perhaps carry on with it's revitalization at some point. |
