One thing I forgot to mention is why I silver soldered it instead of having a dovetail cut. It was because of the two stage trigger. After you pull to the first stop the Mauser coking piece rotates a small degree. If it was dovetailed it would be very hard to position and the risk of ruining the cocking piece by cutting it wrong was too great. Bey soldering it you can simply reheat and move to put the piece int the perfect position. I have since switched to a Timmny triggger and, since it is much tighter, eliminated the bolt movement. If I had dovetailed it I would have had to throw away the cocking piece and get another. |
