Nice job done. Mine, of course, mirrors your original, even to the toe chicp. I'll have to shorten the stock slightly, and will be putting on pad as well. Not only will it grip the coat a bit better, my ruined shoulder will appreciate it as well. : 'll be putting on the 'Rer-style' safety. Some call it a Winchester style, looks closer to a Ruger to me, but never paid either much attention. I rarely have use for a safety. : My oversize groove diameter is putting drawn-down 300gr. .375's out at 2,170fps, Speer 270's at 2,300fps, Norma 232's at 2,450fps and drawn 225gr. .375's at 2,540fps. The 232's and 225's are using the same load. All loads are quite safe in my M46, but may not be in your's. Mine has a .370"groove diameter. This rifle shoots 1.00" off the bench at 100 meters with all loads and sub 1" off the bags with it's iron sights at 50 yards. I hold the fore-end as if shooting offhand (back of hand on the bag) when shooting off the bags. This prevents different points of impact from load testing and sighting in to when shooting from hunting positions. ; How many times do you see guys at the range resting the stock or barrel against a hard object? |
