OK, Mauser aficionados, a question. The milled clawmount base... Just how much DOES it weaken the action? Certainly it doesn't strengthen it. Do you take it into account when you work up loads for a rifle? I am referring to the regular front round receiver ring milling, not the milled flat-top. I've always wondered about it, but cannot remember hearing or reading of any blown actions except for PO Ackeley's murdered action which did of course blow there at the milled ring. |
