I guess it depends on how you were "taught to shoot".

When I snap a rifle of mine to my shoulder, I bring the gun up to my face/eye, not head down onto the rifle/comb.

All my guns have slightly higher mounted scopes and all fit perfectly.
The crosshairs (on my scoped rifles) are aligned on target as soon as the butt comes into the shoulder pocket.

That is the European "way".

This Purdey looks perfectly fine to me.
